Typical duties include reviewing financial reports, monitoring accounts, and preparing activity reports and financial forecasts. Financial managers also investigate ways to improve profitability, and analyze markets for businessopportunities, such as expansion, mergers or acquisitions.
A Financial Business Analyst recommends and implements methods for increasing a company's efficiency and profitability. They analyze the company's business model and finances and they use their findings to make suggestions for improvement regarding everything from budget and operations to management. The Financial Business Analyst evaluates previous budgets, expenditures, and operational efficiency together with results of overall financial analysis in order to develop and implement future budgets. They monitor a company's expenditures and profits regularly, ensuring cost effectiveness and making recommendations to management to maximize profits.
Financial Business Analysts often work as liaisons between multiple teams including customer service, product development and management. They may work for one company, but a significant portion work on a contract or consultative basis with multiple clients. Business and financial occupations in general are expected to grow roughly 8 percent over the next ten years, which is about average, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
