Orthodox religion is by no means the only Belarus religion. Many other religions are also well represented in the country, including: Roman Catholics (almost 400 churches)

Protestants (over 500 communities including Lutherans, Mormons, Baptists, Calvinists)

Jews (more than 40 Hebrew communities)

Muslims (27 communities and nine mosques)

There are up to 25 religious confessions in Belarus, the number of religious communities amounts to more than 3.1 thousand (2010).

School education in Belarus consists of primary, basic and secondary school. Basic education is compulsory for all children and a Certificate of Basic Education is awarded after this is completed. Secondary education includes mainstream education or vocational and technical education.

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees vary depending on the programme chosen and study level. Tuition fee in Belarus is affordable.

Tuition fees for 1- year preparatory programme: International students can expect to pay between 1600 USD to 1800 USD for 1-year preparatory programme if they have come to the country on their own. International students who have come on the basis of inter-university or international agreements, the tuition fee depends on the agreement.

The fees for first stage of higher education vary by course chosen and duration of the course. Students can expect about 2000 USD per year.

The fees for second stage of higher education vary by specialisation and curricula. Students can expect to about 2300 USD or more per year, depending on the specialty.

Living Expenses

The cost of living in Belarus is low as compared to other European countries. Living expenses vary by lifestyle. Students can expect to between 200 and 300 USD per month.

The federal government generously provides Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships for disadvantaged students who otherwise would not be able to afford to study abroad. More than 2,300 scholarships of up to $5,000 annually are given for study programs around the globe, including Belarus.
